While we are rapidly moving to the commercialization of space (especially vehicles and hardware), the aerospace community is often confronted with the hard reality that what works down here on planet Earth doesn’t always work “up there”. Problems often encountered include: – Contamination and Foreign Object Debris (FOD). – Fire and smoke means we have a “really bad day”. – Supply issues (global materials shortages, testing, etc.) – Connector intermate ability issues. – Red Plague / White Plague – Improper derating – Lack of effective communication and feedback between design and manufacturing.
