Aerospace Engineer, Special Processes Technical Expert NASA / Johnson Space Center (JSC)
Quality & Flight Equipment Division, Special Processes and Parts
Bob Cooke is a NASA and electronics industry recognized technical Subject Matter Expert (SME), with over 40 years of experience in providing technical assessment, analysis, and recommendations on the design and development of electrical / electronic (E/E) hardware and systems for high-reliability, harsh-environment, and mission-critical / life-critical sensors, instrumentation, asset management, surveillance, and command-control systems for industrial, petrochemical, and spaceflight applications.
As an SME, he provides technical expertise and knowledge-based support in the development and updating of government and Voluntary Consensus Standards (VCS), quality assurance standards, and training/certification programs for use by NASA, industry, medical, military, and government manufacturers in the design, assembly, and inspection of electrical / electronic equipment.
He’s also one of the guys you’re fussing at when you don’t like something in the IPC or NASA Workmanship Standards!
His wife and family live in Seabrook, TX, and have managed to survive Tropical Storm Allison and Hurricanes Rita, Ike, and Harvey – even though their house is located 1/8 mile from Clear Lake, 1/4 mile from Galveston Bay, and sits just 15 ft above sea level. During Harvey, he assisted in the opening and management of an evacuation center.
Bob is an amateur radio operator and can usually be found parked alongside a roadway at some outrageous hour of the morning on weekends, providing medical and radio support for the various marathons occurring across the Houston / Harris County metro area.
When he isn’t doing that, he’s creating and applying highly realistic and graphic injuries to actors for the purpose of enhancing the realism of mass casualty preparedness and emergency response training exercises for emergency response and law enforcement personnel in the Houston / Harris County metro area. As “the gunshot and burn guy”, the joke at home is that he has more makeup than his wife and daughter combined – and his is MUCH more expensive!
